do you ever wonder about the concept of time?
who came up with this idea of having set measurements of seconds, minutes, days, months, and even years. who agreed to such a limiting system that has ended up controlling almost every aspect of our lives.
sure, with time comes many great things such as organization and management
but with the good there is also the bad.
sometimes i picture a world no longer bounded by time
because if you think about it, with time ultimately comes beginnings and ends. hours come and hours go and seconds pass in what seems like an instant, as we end up living our entire lives according to deadlines.
but it is true the more you ponder time, the more complex the idea of it becomes. and isn't it particularly weird how when you don't want a moment to end, its gone before you know it? but instances in which you would rather die than re-live, those never seem to end. its not the system of time, however, that makes us feel this way, afterall, its just a measurement-a constant, steady, never-changing system of numbers...
but i wonder how many people in this world have, for at least a split second, thought about running out of this so called time. i know i have but when i think about it, its really a silly thing to worry about. lives are afterall unmeasurable, unlike a school day or lunch meeting, there is no specified end. so why do people waste their lives counting down to an end they'll never know until they've reached it? despite this, it is clear as a human race we are amazed by the baffling thought of time. movies, books, etc display fantasties in which we can control it. whether its by freezing it, erasing it, fast forwarding it, or rewinding it- a part of us wants to feel we have power over something we really have no control over at all. but as we've come to know, those are just stories afterall...
i've found the only real power you have over time is your use with it. i am currently 6,246 days old, and what do i really have to show for it?
lets just hope by the next 6,000 i'll be able to answer that question.
