"hello world, i hope you're listening. forgive me if i'm young or for speaking out of turn. maybe i'm just dreaming out loud."

isn't it funny how its the details of life that make life worth living.
the simple things every day that keep you smiling, keep you laughing, keep you crying, keep you sighing, keep you- breathing.

we commonly hear the saying money can't buy happiness and although its become a phrase tossed around in every day language and is heard countless times throughout a lifetime, i still think its an expression that needs to be learned individually.

logically, material things should make you happy.
financial security should be comforting.
and being wealthy should make things better.
and they do... for a while.
but technology gets old, clothes go out of style, and no matter how much we have the society we live in leaves us forever wanting more.
but i ask myself what do those things compare to if i ranked them on a fictional scale of happiness comparing them to what i would say is most important in life.
rather than finding and searching for sporadic contentment in material items, realizing and more importantly noticing everyday the simple joys of life at least for me, i have found can be a constant source of happiness

just seeing a rainbow in the sky, watching a kitten play, hearing your favorite song on the radio right after you've been talking about it, getting a letter from an old friend, or just watching the rain fall gently on a window pane. these things can't be bought, can't be forced, and can only be enjoyed in the moment.

and although things may not always go as planned or as i would like them to
i just have to remember thats how life is supposed to be.
you can't know the right without the wrong, you can't know light without darkness, and you can't know happiness without sadness.
you can't because it takes one to have the other
as dave matthews says

"if i were a king if i had everything. if i had you and i could give you your dreams then what in the world would i go on for? if i had it all."

its tribulation thats shaped me
its desires that motivate me
its people i have met that have influenced me
its hope that encourages me
and i wouldn't trade all that i have experienced for anything
because tell me what in the world would i go on for?
...if i had it all..
